Primates are often sited for possessing many of the same
traits and qualities found in modern man. While many dispute our own evolution from
the ape, just as many cannot deny the close similarities that can be found between each
species.
Information presented in the following pages will
be cited from various sources and referenced accordingly, but sometimes intermixed with
personal thought, speculation and opinion. At no time did I personally conduct this
research, it is cited here as a central location for information, not as a collaborative
work between me and the individuals referenced. This is a work in progress and will
hopefully expand and lengthen as I continue. At various points in this work I will
be contacting references cited for their approval and thus, information my change.
In my views, I follow the belief that the Human,
Orangutan, Chimpanzee and Gorilla belong to the same Family, Hominidae. Therefore,
when I am making reference to the Family, Hominidae, I speak of it as the
family of all four Primates listed above. Reference material may site them as two
distinct groups, please do not confuse this listing as contradictory to my views, I will
cite information as found without modification.
My beliefs stem from a trust in the
Theory of
Evolution. I do not blindly believe this theory to be the absolute truth, but I
do feel confident in my opinion, that I , as a human, am the descendant of an ape or an
earlier species thereof.
